Statistics Canada Wants Your Take on the Digital Economy
The world is going digital and fast. So much so that digital technology is reshaping the economy.
And globally too, the economy is shifting towards digitalization.
To learn more about Canadians' activities and participation in the digital economy, Statistics Canada is conducting a new survey to fill in the important data gaps.
The Digital Economy Survey is being done to better understand the patterns of how each person's consumption and purchasing is changing in a rapidly growing digital world.
The survey is set to be conducted from June 15 to July 12.
Respondent information will be kept strictly confidential; data are collected under the Statistics Act.
The survey will cover the use and purchase of various digital products such as music and video streaming services, e-books, mobile apps and online gaming subscriptions.
You can expect questions about digital payment options like reward points, gift cards and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
It will also explore ways of earning from digital platforms and apps like peer-to-peer ride sharing or accommodation service and online bulletin boards.
The results will be released in fall 2018.
