An “armed and dangerous” suspect wanted in connection with a shooting which killed a Brampton teen in Mississauga has turned himself in.

“The suspect is in custody,” said Peel Regional Police Const. Mark Fischer.

Thulani Chizanga, 19, of Mississauga, surrendered to Toronto police on May 6, appearing in Brampton court on May 7 and again on Monday.

He’s facing a first-degree murder charge following the April 27 death of 19-year-old Kamar McIntosh of Brampton.

Another suspect, Shamar Lawson Meredith, 18, of no fixed address, remains at large. He’s also wanted for first-degree murder in relation to the shooting.

McIntosh was shot to death in the washroom of Popeyes Louisiana Chicken following an “altercation with the suspects” in the fast-food restaurant at Hurontario St. and King St. at 3:25 p.m.

Officers were sent to 2515 Hurontario St. in Cooksville, finding McIntosh with several gunshot wounds.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

GoFundMe page has been set up to cover McIntosh’s funeral costs.

Warrants were issued for Chizanga and Meredith on May 3. A young offender was arrested the same day.

The boy, 17, is charged with first-degree murder.

His name is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Anyone with information is asked to phone the homicide and missing persons bureau at (905) 453-2121 ext. 3205 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
