Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in Canada. For those of you who may not know, pickleball is a sport that combines badminton, tennis and table tennis. If you have not played it before, you definitely have a reason to try it out now.

Pickleball now has a home in Brampton! The City of Brampton has officially opened seven outdoor pickleball courts in two locations for public use.

Located at 8950 McLaughlin Road, Flower City Community Campus is the home to four new courts. The campus is open from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. City staff will set up the courts in the lacrosse box, but residents can still play after hours. Players can bring their own portable nets and play on a first-come, first served basis.

The second location is Centennial Park, which is located at 53 Centre Street South. The city just introduced three courts available during the tennis season (May to October), which again operates on a first-come, first served basis. Players are asked to rotate off of the courts every half hour during busy times to ensure everyone has a chance to play.

“Brampton has a diverse community that is full of sports enthusiasts, and I am excited to introduce our new pickleball courts for everyone to use. This is yet another way we are keeping our city Healthy and Safe and ensuring residents have opportunities to play and enjoy the outdoors,” says Mayor Patrick Brown.

The City of Brampton also offers indoor drop-in pickleball at various recreation centres throughout the year. To learn more about drop-in times and locations, visit the drop-in filter.
