Early spring home sales are looking to be stable in the GTA, according to a recent report from the online real estate platform Zoocasa.

Early spring home sales are looking to be stable in the GTA, according to a recent report from the online real estate platform Zoocasa.

Citing data from the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB), Zoocasa says home sales in March are nearly identical when compared to the same time last year, with 7,187 homes changing hands compared to 7,188 in 2018.

“For the first quarter of 2019 as a whole, sales are down -1%,” the report says.

However, the housing market is still suffering from having too few homes to choose from.

“The market as a whole continues to be defined by a lack of new home listings which fell -5.1% throughout the GTA,” the report continues.

“This continues to put pressure on buyers and keep market conditions on the tighter end of balanced; the sales-to-new listings ratio for all markets tracked by TREB is 51%, with conditions steeper in the 416 at 56%, and slightly softer in the 905 at 49%.”

Overall, average home prices have kept an even keel, up 0.5% to $788,335 this year.

The homes sold in Brampton during March range from more affordable condos to houses with price tags in the millions.
