A third man has been charged after a Brampton man was beaten to death.

The suspect was arrested on Friday by Peel police in connection with the death of Paviter Singh Bassi, 21, who died in hospital after a March 19 beatdown.

Officers responded to reports of an assault taking place near Sandalwood Parkway East and Cedarcliff Trail.

Police found the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Bassi was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Gurraj Bassi, 21, of Brampton, is facing a first-degree murder charge.

There’s no relation between the victim and the accused, say investigators.

But Gurraj Bassi is the cousin of Karanvir Singh Bassi – arrested on March 20 – who’s also facing a first-degree murder charge in this case along with another 22-year-old Brampton man, Guryodh Singh Khattra.

It’s unclear if there are more suspects outstanding.

Gurraj Bassi will appear in Brampton court on Saturday for a bail hearing.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses, Dash-cam video, surveillance video, or anyone who may have information concerning this investigation to contact Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at (905) 453-2121 Ext 3205.
