Public Works and Engineering, Road Maintenance Operations & Fleet, Traffic Services has issued a notice of construction and will be reconstructing the street lighting infrastructure along Birchbank Road between Dixie Road and Avondale Boulevard.

The work will replace the existing and obsolete poles and lights with conventional concrete poles and LED lights, which will reduce glare and minimize upward lighting and backlighting.

This will make the fixture night-time friendly.

Work will take place weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the anticipated completion of all streets is by Fall 2020, weather permitting and with no unforeseen delays.

Construction may affect any lawn ornaments or utilities such as gardens, lawn sprinklers or hedges within the boulevard of the city’s right-of-way.

It is the resident’s responsibility to remove these items in order to avoid any damage.

If there are any concerns associated with these items, please notify the city.

Final restoration, including sodding, will be completed in fall 2020.

The city appreciates all efforts to water and maintain new sod in an effort to keep the city “clean and green.”

Any disturbance to the city right-of-way or private property will be reinstalled and restored to its original state or better.

It is the priority of Traffic Services to ensure the new lighting system is fully operational for public safety as well as being sensitive to the foliage that may be in-line or grown around existing street light infrastructure on the city of Brampton’s right-of-way.
