Top 5 Airbnb Cottages for a Getaway from Brampton
Summer calls for cottaging, and if you don't have a cottage, it can be tough trying to find the perfect one for a getaway from Brampton.
I've stayed at a few Airbnb cottages, and I've found it super handy for finding, booking, and staying at a cottage with a large group of friends. The key is to treat the place like your own home, and find one that suits your needs. Further, you need to narrow down where you want to go in order to find a cottage in the area - you can't just search for "cottages," you have to search by location.
Whether you want to book somewhere in Muskoka, Grand Bend, or Tobermory, Airbnb usually has some solid options.
Here are the top five Airbnb cottages we found:
Located in Saugeen Shores about three hours from Brampton, this huge, rustic log home sits on Lake Huron, and is about a one minute walk to a sandy white beach. The living room has cathedral ceilings and a 30-foot floor-to-ceiling fireplace. For about $430 a night, though it might not be called a cottage in the title, this home boasts a "quiet cottage setting" according to the owner, and has three bedrooms that accommodate six people.
In Rosseau, another almost three-hour drive from Brampton, "cozy" definitely sums this place up. This 100-year old home is walking distance to a stretch of beach, a general store, and a restaurant, boasting authentic Muskoka village life. The cottage accommodates three people for $199 a night, so it's more of a quaint, small group getaway, and in season, the owner will gift you a dozen farm fresh eggs and a freshly baked loaf of bread! Book this one fast, there are still a few dates left for July and August.
Merrigang cottage seems to take quaint and cozy to a new level. Located in Grand Bend, Merrigang is about a two-and-a-half hour drive from Brampton and sleeps eight in four large bedrooms. There's a barbecue available, a private stretch of beach on Lake Huron just steps away (shown in the photo below!), and it's a short stroll from bustling Main Street, though to retain the quaint coziness, you can choose to hole up under the oak trees on the property itself. This one is $225 a night.
The furthest cottage on this list and also the one that requires the longest stay - a week in either July or August or minimum three days in September - The Beach House is in Tobermory, about three-and-a-half hours away. However, it deserves a spot on this list - this cottage is incredible. This lakefront cottage has its own private sandy beach, just ten minutes from town. There's also an outdoor fireplace and a barbecue. If you're looking for cozy and stunning, The Beach House is your spot, at $299 a night for six people.
This truly charming cottage sits on the edge of Tea Lake in Coldwater, Ontario, about a two hour drive from Brampton. It boasts both deep water and sandy shores on the lake, plus a barbecue, 4 bedrooms, a fire pit, and many decks and docks. The one-acre property allows fishing, unlimited boating, and is a great bang for your buck, accommodating 10 people at $394 a night.
