5) Simply South
Simply South is a relatively new restaurant located at Countryside Drive and Airport Road, and they have quick, kind service and a gorgeous interior (seriously - date night material, themed in blue and bronze!). First of all, their presentation is on point as you can see from the photo of their beautiful dosa below. Their dosa was light, crispy, and golden brown, their filling was flavourful and the powder added a nice kick, and their chutneys were delicious. The best part? Their sambhar. A perfectly balanced mix of tamarind, curry leaves, and lentils, their sambhar was a good compliment to their dosa and chutneys. Not only do they have a great dosa selection, Simply South has some choice South Indian favourites on the menu like gobi manchurian (cauliflower fritters) and even a samosa sampler, plus North Indian street food, six different kinds of vada, and...a lunch special South Indian thali (assortment of items)! It comes with masala dosa, idly, vada, and something sweet, served with sambhar and papadum (a crunchy chip-like item). Be warned - it's all vegetarian here.
There's no such thing as too much breakfast in Brampton! Fluffy eggs, crunchy bacon, jam-smothered toast, and sweet, sweet pancakes - yum. A brand new all day breakfast spot and family restaurant just opened its doors in a very popular area of Brampton, near Bramalea City Centre (BCC). Golden Eggs Restaurant is located at 4 Lisa Street, unit 17 in Brampton, between CIBC and Dollar Joy Plus. That's across the street from good old BCC. The new restaurant has taken over the old All Star Wings space, complete with an outdoor patio where it might be nice to enjoy breakfast this summer. And the restaurant serves more than all day breakfast - it serves all day lunch and dinner, too! Golden Eggs has all the staples you'd expect from a family restaurant, from burgers and fries to pancakes and coffee. The owners announced the restaurant's official grand opening on April 2, 2018.
A new, unique Indian restaurant boasting traditional flavours and a specialty opened recently in Brampton, and readers are a-buzz. It's called Paranthe Wali Gali - which means "the lane of parantha-makers" - and it's located at Clarence and Kennedy. A parantha is an Indian flatbread that's popular in different styles in South Asian countries. The flatbread is typically flaky and can be stuffed with different ingredients. Paranthe Wali Gali serves a whopping almost 60 different kinds of paranthe (plural of parantha), including butter chicken, beet root, and chicken biryani. Some of the paranthe are inspired by different South Asian regions, like Chennai (parantha with potatoes and southern-flavoured herbs) and Kashmir (parantha with kidney beans and Indian herbs).
2) J. Red & Co.
Definitely one of the most modern restaurants in Brampton, from the atmosphere to the innovative menu. Located on Vodden and Main is one of the gems in the city. Chef Jason Rosso is the mastermind behind the menu and if his name sounds familiar to you, it's probably because he has appeared on such TV shows as Restaurant Makeover, Recipe to Riches and the Marilyn Dennis Show. He is known for offering familiar food with a twist and the menu does not disappoint. What's better than going out on a date and experimenting with a new style of food you have never tried before? You can try things like smoked cheddar mac’n’cheese, egg rolls and crispy fried cauliflower ‘wings.’ Our favourite is the Bob and Doug burger.
Kwality is one of Brampton’s busiest Indian restaurants at all times and on all days of the week - and for good reason! Kwality at Steeles and Torbram has some truly scumptious Indian food. You can get a solid meal here for well under $30 - it’s on the middle end of the Indian dining spectrum, still quite casual. Two major pointers when you go to Kwality: first, make sure you try their samosas. It’s a little steep compared to other restos with samosas in Brampton, at $2.25 for three, but they boast the right amount of spice and flavour. Samosa game strong! Then, there’s the garlic naan. This might be the best naan in all of Brampton - perfectly fluffy and doughy, and doused in butter and garlic to make the perfect compliment to your curry. As for curries, their butter chicken is the bomb, sweet, spicy, and creamy all at once. You might be overwhelmed with the decor and the amount of people when you walk in, but Kwality definitely has its own charm - and good quality food (see what I did there?). Don’t forget to pick up some sweets before you go, and wash your meal down with some piping hot and aromatic masala chai.
