At Hurontario Street and Steeles Avenue, Anjappar Chettinad is a great South Indian spot with a buffet, a regular a-la-carte menu including dosas. This place has a fantastic buffet on the weekends that is rather busy in the AM / early lunch hour. They've even got all your dosa classics like masala dosa, vada and amazing house-made chutney. The buffet ranges from a reasonable $10.99 for weekend mornings to $12.99 for a weekday lunch and $14.99 in the evening. Their dosas come with two chutneys, tomato and coconut, and a good serving size of sambhar, perfect in proportion with the size of the dosa. All of their chutneys and their sambhar were packed with flavour. They might have a variety of South Indian food, but their dosas are a highlight on their menu.

Definitely one of the most modern restaurants in Brampton, from the atmosphere to the innovative menu. Located on Vodden and Main is one of the gems in the city. Chef Jason Rosso is the mastermind behind the menu and if his name sounds familiar to you, it's probably because he has appeared on such TV shows as Restaurant Makeover, Recipe to Riches and the Marilyn Dennis Show. He is known for offering familiar food with a twist and the menu does not disappoint. What's better than going out on a date and experimenting with a new style of food you have never tried before? You can try things like smoked cheddar mac 'n cheese, egg rolls and crispy fried cauliflower ‘wings.’ Our favourite is the Bob and Doug burger. This place is featured in our cover photo.
Stacey Lee’s may be tiny, but it is a mighty greasy spoon! This cozy, understated nook at Queen and McLaughlin is one of the most legendary restaurants in Brampton. Stacey Lee’s thrives by serving up a hearty breakfast (be sure to ask for their shredded hash browns), and you’ll definitely leave full and happy. They boast delicious, cost-efficient all-day breakfast - pancakes for dinner might be fun for the kids - plus a senior’s menu for gram and gramps, and comfort food options for the parents like hot sandwiches, steak, and chicken pot pie. There’s a classic small-town diner vibe happening inside, and though there might be fruit in the menu item pictured below, it’s a must-try greasy spoon dish at Stacey Lee’s. The melt-in-your-mouth croissant hugs a moist egg and melty cheese that will put any Timmies or McD’s breakfast sandwich to shame. How many calories are in that, you ask? Who cares!
A unique Indian restaurant boasting traditional flavours and a specialty opened recently in Brampton, and readers are a-buzz. It’s called Paranthe Wali Gali - which means “the lane of parantha-makers” - and it’s located at Clarence and Kennedy, with another location near Queen and Airport. A parantha is an Indian flatbread that’s popular in different styles in South Asian countries. The flatbread is typically flaky and can be stuffed with different ingredients. Paranthe Wali Gali serves a whopping almost 60 different kinds of paranthe (plural of parantha), including butter chicken, beet root, and chicken biryani. Some of the paranthe are inspired by different South Asian regions, like Chennai (parantha with potatoes and southern-flavoured herbs) and Kashmir (parantha with kidney beans and Indian herbs).
Big, soft, flavourful, and melt-in-your-mouth - the pretzels at Brampton's only pretzel shop are an epic snacking option! Whether you're looking for a light meal or a snack, the pretzels here will definitely satisfy you and tide you over until your next meal. There are quite a few pretzel options here, including ones coated in sugar or salt, and even a ghost pepper pretzel. You'll also find some other pastries like macarons, and even dipped pretzels here if you're looking for an even smaller snack. And they serve some delicious brewed coffee, so be sure to snag one of those as well. Pretzels are one of my favourite snack foods, and Dasbrezelhause makes them perfectly!
