Crepe Delicious at Bramalea City Centre might not have the classiest seating area, because it's a kiosk in the middle of the food court, but they have a wide variety of crepes, both sweet and savoury. Choose from savoury crepes like Popeye with spinach, tomato, mozzarella, feta, and Greek dressing, Tuna Tango with tuna, red onion, lettuce, tomato, and mozzarella, and have the option to add two eggs to any savoury crepe, or choose a sweet crepe like Dulce with banana, coconut, and dulce, or Black & Red with Nutella and strawberries, pictured below. You can even add gelato and whipped cream. Their crepes are a good size, with a great proportion of filling to crepe (not too much or too little chocolate, for example! And just enough strawberries!). If the sheer amount of options weren't enough, here's the best part - you can get your crepe in a cone and walk around the mall eating it. Hashtag blessed.
If you want a great artisan sandwich (especially a loaded veal one with all the fixings), this is the place to go. Hidden in an industrial-ish area just around the corner from Williams Parkway and Torbram, That Italian Place is a very busy spot with an authentic Italian feel. A word of caution when you visit: order early or have time to spare. This absolute gem of a restaurant appeared on The Food Network's You Gotta Eat Here in 2013 and for good reason - every item on the menu looks and tastes authentically delicious. If you're in the mood for a hearty veal sandwich with all the toppings, you truly shouldn't look anywhere else. The veal is tender, the mushrooms are filling and flavourful and the hot peppers add a certain wow factor that makes the sandwich complete. Another awesome item on their menu is the authentic woodfired pizza! If you're looking to grab lunch, this is the ideal spot.
Now we get into the higher levels of smoked meat. You can smoke any type of meat, and when you do, something beautiful usually happens. The team at Food Fight Barbeque Bar understand this concept beautifully! Smoked chicken, smoked turkey, and the classics like pulled pork and beef brisket, help make this restaurant a smoked meat lover's delight! While their meat could probably hold its own in terms of taste, they add some extras to keep the flavour buds entertained. If you're an adventurous soul like me, or you just aren't sure which one to get, try their sliders to get a good taste of their options. The beef brisket here is succulent and tasty, I highly recommend it!
For those who expect the beauty of a restaurant’s decor to match the quality of its food, Lily Thai is the place to visit. With an elegant interior, dim lighting and comfortable seating, this restaurant offers a very comfortable setting for a delicious meal. The Bangkok street-style pad Thai was a generous portion and very tasty. My favourite item, however, was the coconut shrimp, which had fresh shavings of coconut melded into a deep-fried batter. The meal was prepared quickly and the server was attentive. For a treat in a suburban setting, check out Lily Thai Cuisine, located just east of Bovaird and James Potter/Creditview.
A unique Indian restaurant boasting traditional flavours and a specialty opened recently in Brampton, and readers are a-buzz. It's called Paranthe Wali Gali - which means "the lane of parantha-makers" - and it's located at Clarence and Kennedy, with another location near Queen and Airport. A parantha is an Indian flatbread that's popular in different styles in South Asian countries. The flatbread is typically flaky and can be stuffed with different ingredients. Paranthe Wali Gali serves a whopping almost 60 different kinds of paranthe (plural of parantha), including butter chicken, beet root, and chicken biryani. Some of the paranthe are inspired by different South Asian regions, like Chennai (parantha with potatoes and southern-flavoured herbs) and Kashmir (parantha with kidney beans and Indian herbs).
