So this is the best Florentine Eggs Benedict I’ve had in my life. Period. Just writing about it brings on a craving. Complementing certain tastes and flavours is an art form; it’s very rarely something that is left to chance. The blend of hollandaise sauce, egg whites, yolk, spinach, mushroom, and English Muffin all complement each other to such a perfect degree that it tastes like one solid flavour within the same profile. Confusing? Think of a colour spectrum where you can see blue change to green as you move your eyes through the spectrum. Now think of this dish as being able to let you taste the entire spectrum all in one bite without skipping a single transition - powerful stuff! As if this wasn’t enough, they went ahead and seasoned their potatoes beautifully to add a little spice to your meal. Crunchy, savoury, and a little bit salty. Brampton, this is one of your best Eggs Benedict by far!
This Portuguese bakery in downtown Brampton near Main and Church does a lot of things right - they make great pie, they have lots of bread and meat, and they make a mean soup! Nova Grill changes up their soup of the day daily, and for about $3, you can get a steaming bowl of their daily concoction, best enjoyed with a giant bun from their bakery, and a custard tart for dessert. Below is a vegetable soup from Nova, which was a smooth potato puree with chopped spinach and carrots, plus the right amount of flavours and spices to be considered, as they say, “yummy in my tummy.” Nova is open bright and early at 8 a.m. so you can get soup at almost any time of day, and you can get it for there or to-go. What’s more, the service is friendly and you’ll always feel at home in the resto’s cozy setting.
3) J. Red & Co
Definitely one of the most modern restaurants in Brampton, from the atmosphere to the innovative menu. Located on Vodden and Main is one of the gems in the city. Chef Jason Rosso is the mastermind behind the menu and if his name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because he has appeared on such TVshows as Restaurant Makeover, Recipe to Riches and the Marilyn Denis Show. He is known for offering familiar food with a twist and the menu does not disappoint. What’s better than going out on a date and experimenting with a new style of food you have never tried before? You can try things like smoked cheddar mac ‘n cheese, egg rolls and crispy fried cauliflower 'wings.' Our favourite is the Bob and Doug burger. This place is featured in our cover photo.
A new, unique Indian restaurant boasting traditional flavours and a specialty opened recently in Brampton, and readers are a-buzz. It's called Paranthe Wali Gali - which means "the lane of parantha-makers" - and it's located at Clarence and Kennedy. A parantha is an Indian flatbread that's popular in different styles in South Asian countries. The flatbread is typically flaky and can be stuffed with different ingredients. Paranthe Wali Gali serves a whopping almost 60 different kinds of paranthe (plural of parantha), including butter chicken, beet root, and chicken biryani. Some of the paranthe are inspired by different South Asian regions, like Chennai (parantha with potatoes and southern-flavoured herbs) and Kashmir (parantha with kidney beans and Indian herbs).
Now we get into the higher levels of smoked meat. You can smoke any type of meat, and when you do, something beautiful usually happens. The team at Food Fight Barbeque Bar understand this concept beautifully! Smoked chicken, smoked turkey, and the classics like pulled pork and beef brisket, help make this restaurant a smoked meat lover’s delight! While their meat could probably hold its own in terms of taste, they add some extras to keep the flavour buds entertained. If you’re an adventurous soul like me, or you just aren’t sure which one to get, try their sliders to get a good taste of their options. The beef brisket here is succulent and tasty, I highly recommend it!
