Top 5 Hottest Restaurants in Brampton: March 3-9

5) Frigate & Firkin

Incredible perogies, beer flights, nachos, and mac’n’cheese - they’ve made several of our top fives, and this British-style pub near Queen and the 410 surprisingly has chicken and waffles on the menu, made like your mom might. What does that even mean, you ask? They take half of a waffle, toss buttermilk-fried chicken on top, and serve it with brussels sprouts (vegetables, so healthy!) - but that’s not all, they drizzle a tasty and unique milk gravy on top and infuse it all with black pepper. My point is, their chicken and waffles are so comforting, you won’t even realize you’ve consumed 1220 calories when you’re done.

4) Oscar's Roadhouse

If you're in the mood for ribs, this country roadhouse fits the bill. The pork ribs here were awesome. The meat fell off the bone and the plate is piled high with four different side dishes, which included garden veggies, different variations of potatoes, baked beans and jalapeno corn bread! Be warned: the only way to eat them is with a knife and fork because the meat falls off that easily. The pork ribs on their own were juicy, tender and mighty tasty and were complimented by Oscar’s sweet and tangy housemade BBQ sauce. Their chicken and waffle sandwich is also a highlight - have you ever had a jalapeno waffle? You may never go back to regular waffles!

3) Anjappar Chettinad

At Hurontario Street and Steeles Avenue, Anjappar Chettinad has a wide variety of veggie dosas, which are a filling and tasty option for vegetarians! Their most popular dosa is their mysore masala dosa, and for good reason. Anjappar's mysore masala dosa had the best filling and crepe on this list - their dosa was crispy, and their potato and onion filling was flavourful and had a good amount of spice. Their dosas come with two chutneys, tomato and coconut, and a good serving size of sambhar, perfect in proportion with the size of the dosa. All of their chutneys and their sambhar were packed with flavour. Anjappar's not only good for dosas, they also have a variety of South Indian food, but their dosas are a highlight on their menu. While they don't have a large variety of dosas, they stick to the classics and they're high on quality. They do have meat dosas on their menu, with chicken or mutton, and those are only served on weekends. To top it off, their service was the quickest on this list and their prices range from a reasonable $7.99 for a plain dosa to $13.49 for a mutton dosa - their veggie dosas don't exceed $10.50.

2) Radica's Hot and Spicy

As far as comfort food goes, Radica's Hot and Spicy is definitely a hotspot. It's a little hard to find since it's tucked away right at Queen and Rutherford, but once you get in there, it's hard not to fall in love with the place. The first thing that both the staff members working at the counter suggest is the doubles along with boneless goat roti. They were able to bring the food out in an impressively short amount of time. So as far as service goes, the staff at Radica's did a great job but it is worth noting that their food spoke volumes for itself. Served hot and with the suitable amount of spice upon request, the food instantly warms you up on the inside, which is great.

1) Kwality Sweets & Restaurant

Kwality is one of Brampton's busiest Indian restaurants at all times and on all days of the week - and for good reason! Kwality at Steeles and Torbram has some truly scumptious Indian food. You can get a solid meal here for well under $30 - it's on the middle end of the Indian dining spectrum, still quite casual. Two major pointers when you go to Kwality: first, make sure you try their samosas. It's a little steep compared to other restos with samosas in Brampton, at $2.25 for three, but they boast the right amount of spice and flavour. Samosa game strong! Then, there's the garlic naan. This might be the best naan in all of Brampton - perfectly fluffy and doughy, and doused in butter and garlic to make the perfect compliment to your curry. As for curries, their butter chicken is the bomb, sweet, spicy, and creamy all at once. You might be overwhelmed with the decor and the amount of people when you walk in, but Kwality definitely has its own charm - and good quality food (see what I did there?). Don't forget to pick up some sweets before you go, and wash your meal down with some piping hot and aromatic masala chai.
