5) Harbourside Fish & Chips

In comparison to a lot of other fish and chip spots on this list, Harbourside is relatively new. Located in the massive plaza at Kennedy and Sandalwood, Harbourside opened early in 2017 and has quickly worked its way into Bramptonians' hearts...with good reason! First, Harbourside serves up everything from traditional fish and chips and breaded shrimp to poutines and a host of decadent deep-fried desserts. In terms of fish options, diners can enjoy Alaskan halibut, haddock, cod and salmon. The resto also offers a plethora of deep-fried shrimp options (including coconut shrimp), along with battered mushrooms, fried clams, crab cakes and scallops. If you want to keep things light, you can order your fish baked or grilled. The haddock and chips boasts a filling portion of melt-in-your-mouth fish, chips that hit the spot, and you can get 'em from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. as a lunch special for $8.75. Over all, a scrumptious serving of fish and chips that will not disappoint!

4) Firangi

This Queen and Airport resto opened not too long ago (which they proudly display on their storefront as “Est. 2016”) operated by Sanjeev Sethi, the owner and executive chef of The Host brand. The cozy, street food inspired resto has a casual yet classy atmosphere, with unique furnishings and earthy tones like reds, greens, and browns throughout. Their dishes are served in metal bowls and plates (as if they were cooked in them - very street food-like), though their dinner plates are a simple and classy black. The Butter Chicken Fries can’t be beat and I’ll rave about them forever - aromatic, with tender chicken, creamy sauce with a kick of spice, and crispy fries. Also be sure to try their Chicken 65, classic saag paneer, and the chef’s choice Ambala Wala Chicken Curry. At reasonable prices, you can get a tasty meal here for about $25 per person.

4) Golden Eggs All Day Breakfast

There’s no such thing as too much breakfast in Brampton! Fluffy eggs, crunchy bacon, jam-smothered toast, and sweet, sweet pancakes - yum. A brand new all day breakfast spot and family restaurant just opened its doors in a very popular area of Brampton, near Bramalea City Centre (BCC). Golden Eggs Restaurant is located at 4 Lisa Street, unit 17 in Brampton, between CIBC and Dollar Joy Plus. That’s across the street from good old BCC. The new restaurant has taken over the old All Star Wings space, complete with an outdoor patio where it might be nice to enjoy breakfast this summer. And the restaurant serves more than all day breakfast - it serves all day lunch and dinner, too! Golden Eggs has all the staples you’d expect from a family restaurant, from burgers and fries to pancakes and coffee.

2) Carve on Lot 5

Located at 15 Main Street North, this resto boasts a great location and actually sits in a historical building (they had to renovate the space before opening). The restaurant boasts a main floor bar and lounge, a second floor meeting and dining room and the aforementioned rooftop patio (which features a bar). The food offerings are diverse (which is ideal in a city as multicultural as Brampton) and affordable and the resto also boasts a simple wine list, good quality spirits and a mix of local and international beers. We highlight recommend the fries, the fish tacos, the mac and cheese, and...well, pretty much anything on their menu!

1) J. Red & Co

Definitely one of the most modern restaurants in Brampton, from the atmosphere to the innovative menu. Located on Vodden and Main is one of the gems in the city. Chef Jason Rosso is the mastermind behind the menu and if his name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because he has appeared on such TV shows as Restaurant Makeover, Recipe to Riches and the Marilyn Dennis Show. He is known for offering familiar food with a twist and the menu does not disappoint. What’s better than going out on a date and experimenting with a new style of food you have never tried before? You can try things like smoked cheddar mac ‘n cheese, egg rolls and crispy fried cauliflower 'wings.' Our favourite is the Bob and Doug burger.
