5. Paranthe Wali Gali

A unique Indian restaurant boasting traditional flavours and a specialty opened recently in Brampton, and readers are a-buzz. It's called Paranthe Wali Gali - which means "the lane of parantha-makers" - and it's located at Clarence and Kennedy, with another location near Queen and Airport. A parantha is an Indian flatbread that's popular in different styles in South Asian countries. The flatbread is typically flaky and can be stuffed with different ingredients. Paranthe Wali Gali serves a whopping almost 60 different kinds of paranthe (plural of parantha), including butter chicken, beet root, and chicken biryani. Some of the paranthe are inspired by different South Asian regions, like Chennai (parantha with potatoes and southern-flavoured herbs) and Kashmir (parantha with kidney beans and Indian herbs).

4. Baker's Jerk House

In a plaza near Bovaird and Torbram, Bakers is a little hidden, but it's well worth the adventure! From 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Baker's serves up jerk chicken, fry chicken, or barbecue chicken with your choice of white rice or rice and peas and a can of pop for an impressive price of just $4.99. And have you heard of their Tuesday special? You're about to: Baker's has a special on Tuesdays where you can get a chicken dinner with your choice of rice...for just $3! It's unreal. Below, the take-out container might look small, but it is mighty. Baker's is high on quality and low on price, so it only makes sense that it's typically a crowded spot on a Friday or Saturday night, as this Caribbean take-out joint is in high demand in Brampton. You can also grab a Jamaican patty for just $1.25, porridge for $4, or even 10 wings and three festival (Jamaican fried dough) for $9. This place is a hit for cheap Caribbean eats!

3. Food Fight Barbeque Bar

Now we get into the higher levels of smoked meat. You can smoke any type of meat, and when you do, something beautiful usually happens. The team at Food Fight Barbeque Bar understand this concept beautifully! Smoked chicken, smoked turkey, and the classics like pulled pork and beef brisket, help make this restaurant a smoked meat lover’s delight! While their meat could probably hold its own in terms of taste, they add some extras to keep the flavour buds entertained. If you’re an adventurous soul like me, or you just aren’t sure which one to get, try their sliders to get a good taste of their options. The beef brisket here is succulent and tasty, I highly recommend it!

2. Singapore Gardens

We will warn you right off the bat, the location of Singapore Garden's is slightly questionable because of the very questionable motel it's attached to. Please don't let that keep you from going inside, it's most definitely worth it. We went in on a night when the weather was less than decent, so it was not all that busy and the quality of service was great. The staff was hospitable and helpful and we couldn't help but notice the friendly conversation they were offering to all of the guests that came in, whether they were getting take out or eating in.They made you feel like you were at home and it was easy to forget the fact that we were eating at a restaurant located at the always "interesting" intersection of Queen and Kennedy. Aside from the service, what really sold us on Singapore Gardens was the food. Their vegetable fried rice and beef with vegetables had us smitten with the place. Singapore Gardens gets major points in flavor, friendly service and offering the right kind of at home vibes that don't make you feel bad putting your pressing Netflix binge on hold.

1. Antica Osteria

If you're looking to enjoy a romantic date or a sophisticated dinner, Antica is more than worth a try. This Mayfield Road restaurant pairs warmth and sophistication, wowing guests with a classic wine bar and comforting earthy tones. While a great deal of attention has been paid to the setting, the restaurant is better known for serving fine Italian fare. The resto’s website calls attention to the fact that the establishment occupies “one of the most prestigious indoor spaces in Snelgrove” and the enriching ambiance is apparent as soon as you walk in the door. This restaurant is ideal for a special occasion and the menu doesn’t disappoint, offering such classics as Gnocchi con Pera e Gorgonzola, Penne alla Vodka, lamb and more. If you want to be wowed, try the homemade gnocchi or any of the tender, succulent veal dishes available on the menu.
