5) Sushi House
Who says sushi can’t be romantic? Located just north on Main in the heart of downtown Brampton is a Japanese restaurant that has been around for eight years and looks just as good now as it did when it first opened. Sushi house is very inviting, with booths on one side and private dining rooms on the other. This place is great for a date, as the booths offer an intimate setting with ample privacy. As far as the menu goes, the food is on point and your date will be satisfied--especially with the complimentary crunchy noodle soup that kicks off every meal!
Located at 15 Main Street North, this resto boasts a great location and actually sits in a historical building (they had to renovate the space before opening). The restaurant boasts a main floor bar and lounge, a second floor meeting and dining room and the aforementioned rooftop patio (which features a bar). The food offerings are diverse (which is ideal in a city as multicultural as Brampton) and affordable and the resto also boasts a simple wine list, good quality spirits and a mix of local and international beers. We highlight recommend the fries, the fish tacos, the mac and cheese, and…well, pretty much anything on their menu!
3) Hyderabad House
There’s no shortage of Indian restaurants in Brampton, and a new one has joined the expansive roster! This one comes from Hyderabad. Hyderabad House opened at the end of August 2018, in a plaza at Financial and Steeles! The highlight on the menu is the biryani, which this place specializes in. The dum biryani with chicken and goat follows a recipe from ancient royalty in Hyderabad. According to the restaurant’s website, they serve a grand lunch buffet with over 25 items on weekdays and over 40 items on weekends. The appetizers on the menu include a curry leaf paneer, manchurian baby corn, chicken lollipops, and spicy deep fried chicken. As for mains, you can expect classics like butter chicken and channa masala. More niche dishes include a paneer butter masala and goat in a homestyle curry. There are over 20 different kinds of biryanis and pulavs (rice dishes) on the menu. That includes paneer, veggie, egg, chicken, goat, shrimp, and fish biryanis.
2) Thai Pepper
Hands down, Thai Pepper has the best quality Thai food in Brampton. The quality, quantity, and cost are all worth your while. Located not too far from Sandalwood and Hurontario, Thai Pepper's meagre decor in its unassuming plaza is completely contrary to the amazing cuisine found within. The menu offered several different choices, classics and unique specialties. Fortunately, the affordable prices makes it easy to not feel too bad about indulging in a few items. Some of our favourite items include the ever-classic shrimp tom yum soup, which boasts the perfect amount of spice and comes with huge, quality prawns, and the basil fried rice. Thai Pepper has a variety of items, too. Be warned, if you are in a rush, Thai Pepper may not be the best option for you. If you are looking to eat a delicious meal and spend time relaxing with a friend, you've come to the right place.
A unique Indian restaurant boasting traditional flavours and a specialty opened recently in Brampton, and readers are a-buzz. It’s called Paranthe Wali Gali - which means “the lane of parantha-makers” - and it’s located at Clarence and Kennedy, with another location near Queen and Airport. A parantha is an Indian flatbread that’s popular in different styles in South Asian countries. The flatbread is typically flaky and can be stuffed with different ingredients. Paranthe Wali Gali serves a whopping almost 60 different kinds of paranthe (plural of parantha), including butter chicken, beet root, and chicken biryani. Some of the paranthe are inspired by different South Asian regions, like Chennai (parantha with potatoes and southern-flavoured herbs) and Kashmir (parantha with kidney beans and Indian herbs).
