If you're looking for a brand new lunch (or dinner) spot, you are in luck—a brand new Caribbean fusion restaurant recently opened its door in downtown Brampton. Spicy Island Jerk Caribbean Fusion set up shop in the downtown core early in March month and is satisfying the bustling downtown crowd with a range of comforting Caribbean classics, including jerk pork, fried chicken, curry goat, oxtail, stew fish, chicken soup and more. Centrally located on Main Street, the resto is easily accessible for workers looking to grab a quick lunch or visitors hoping to enjoy a dinner that's on the hotter side. As for the resto's signature dish, operators recommend the jerk chicken and jerk pork.
Kwality serves the best butter chicken I have ever had, hands down. As soon as I tried it, my life changed, and I knew it would top this list. You can taste the freshness of this butter chicken, the chicken is so tender it falls apart without needing a utensil’s help, and the tomato sauce is creamy, slightly sweet, and spicy all at once. Though it was the most expensive meal on this list, at around $20 for naan and butter chicken, it was so worth the cash. Everything about this butter chicken was on point, even the naan was made just right - fluffy, crunchy, and buttery in all the right places - and all I could think about was when I could come back for another round. Best capped off with a masala chai - delicious!
This spot, while not AYCE, provides amazing sushi at a reasonable price. The food is fantastic and could easily compete with any other Peel Region sushi joint for the title of best Japanese in town. Tracing its roots to humble beginnings in the infamous Shopper's World, this spot sits up top in the same plaza as the crowned king (Queen) of Shawarma at Hurontario and Bovaird. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. Quality over quantity is sometimes key.
2) J.Red & Co
Definitely one of the most modern restaurants in Brampton, from the atmosphere to the innovative menu. Located on Vodden and Main is one of the gems in the city. Chef Jason Rosso is the mastermind behind the menu and if his name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because he has appeared on such TV shows as Restaurant Makeover, Recipe to Riches and the Marilyn Dennis Show. He is known for offering familiar food with a twist and the menu does not disappoint. What’s better than going out on a date and experimenting with a new style of food you have never tried before? You can try things like smoked cheddar mac ‘n cheese, egg rolls and crispy fried cauliflower 'wings.'
1) The Pie Guyz
The Pie Guyz at North Park and Torbram only serves savoury pies. Their selection includes chicken and mushroom pie, peri peri chicken pie, chicken vindaloo pie, mutton curry pie, spinach and cheese (palak paneer) pie, steak and kidney pie, and beyond! If any of this has you salivating already, keep in mind that they boast South African tastes, so you're in for unique flavours with their pie - yum. The warning on their site speaks for itself, "Warning! Our Pies are Addictive." Their flavours are great, and the size of their pies are even better because they're all individual. So if you were planning on downing an entire pie, maybe grab four or five of these babies.
