Top 5 Places to See Christmas Lights Outside of Brampton

There’s a lot of ways you can get into the Christmas spirit such as watching a holiday movie, buying and wrapping gifts, Christmas carolling, decorating the tree, and well you get it. The list goes on!

But there’s nothing more festive than wandering around your neighbourhood and admiring all the Christmas lights. 

If you’re looking for a new area to wander through this year then you’re in luck, because there are tons.

Here are the top five places to see Christmas lights outside of Brampton. 


5. Bingemans’ Gift of Lights

Kitchener 

So, what exactly is Bingemans Gift of Lights? Well, we’re glad you asked. It’s only the largest drive-thru holiday light display in Southwestern Ontario.

This display, located at 425 Bingemans Centre Dr., is running until Jan. 5 and only takes about 20 minutes to drive through. 

This year at Bingemans Gift of Lights, there are two tunnels and more animated static light displays and even more animated static light displays than previous years.

4. Winter Festival of Lights

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is beautiful at any time of the year, but there is something that makes it extraordinary during the holiday season, the Winter Festival of Lights. 

This lighting festival, which is located at Queen Victoria Park (6075 Niagara Parkway) is running until Jan. 31.

According to the Niagara Falls Tourism website, “The light displays include the iconic Zimmerman Fountain, fifteen three-dimensional Canadian Wildlife displays, the world’s largest Canadian-American Flag, Noah’s Ark, the lights at the top of Niagara’s iconic Skylon Tower, over fifty trees in Dufferin Islands wrapped with lights and the Toronto Power Generating Station Light Show.”

This festival is free, however, donations will be accepted.

3. Winter Wonderland and Newmarket Ice Lounge 

Newmarket

At Winter Wonderland and Newmarket Ice Lounge, you’ll find a lot more than just holiday lights. Located at the Newmarket Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr., every night until Jan. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. people have the opportunity to enjoy an incredible light display and free skating.

There will also be free train rides, hot chocolate, Cobs Bread Fun Buns, and tons more.

2. Christmas Lights Across Canada

Ottawa 

This event is a little bit different because it’s more than just Christmas lights.

Starting on Dec. 5 up until Jan. 7 Canadians are invited to come to the country’s capital to enjoy an incredible multimedia show that is projected on the Parliament Hill buildings. At this event, thousands of lights will shine throughout not just the capital of Canada but across the country as well.

The show will be presented every night, starting Dec. 5, in a loop from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. 

On New Year’s Eve the show will run until 11:59 p.m. Once midnight strikes, a short pyrotechnics display will be shown.

1. Alight the Night

Near Morrisburg

This is a true winter wonderland you won’t want to miss! 

Alight the Night presents the opportunity for visitors to wander through a place that looks like it came straight from a postcard. At Alight the Night, located at Upper Canada Village, there is almost one million lights that grace the trees, fences, and buildings. 

Other activities at Alight the Night include horse-drawn carriage rides, toy train rides, and more.
