Jose Sao Bento won the July 13 Daily Keno draw by matching all seven of the winning numbers on his Encore selection, scoring $1 million.

And this isn’t his first time getting lucky.

“In 1989, I was part of a group that won $250,000 playing Encore with Lotto 6/49,” he said.

“My share was $83,000.”

Bento says he’s still wrapping his head around his most recent win.

“I woke up early in the morning and went to olg.ca to check my numbers. I saw the Encore numbers and began to shake,” he said.

“I read the combination from front to back and back to front. It looked like I won $1 million.”

He asked his wife to check the ticket “in part because I didn’t have my glasses on and I needed her to tell me what she was seeing. She checked the numbers and said, ‘yes, you won.'”

They were so excited  “we woke up our two kids and our dog,” he said.

“It was a great day.”

The ticket was validated at his favourite store.

“The retailers know me and were so happy,” he said.

“They started crying. It was a very emotional moment.”

Travel plans are underway.

“I can’t wait to travel and visit family,” said Bento.

“I am from Portugal and my wife is from Brazil so we will be taking our two little girls on some family vacations.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Mac’s on Kennedy Rd. in Brampton.
