Two arrested after suspicious vehicle report, attempted carjacking in Brampton

Officers have arrested and charged two people who allegedly had a stolen pick-up truck and attempted to carjack another vehicle.

Around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, police got a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area of Goreway Drive and Humberwest Parkway.

“Once officers arrived, it was discovered that the pick-up truck occupied by the two men was reported stolen from Halton Region,” said police.

“Officers deployed a tire deflation device to disable the vehicle, but despite directions from the officers, the two men fled the area in the stolen car after driving over the tire deflation device.”

The suspects reportedly fled to a gas station in the area of Queen Street and Airport Road, and while there, physically removed the driver of a vehicle to take control of his car.

The driver resisted their attempts and the suspects fled the gas station on foot. The driver was uninjured.

Responding officers searched the immediate area and located both suspects in an adjacent trucking yard where they were arrested.

42 year old Brampton man Maninderjit Dhindsa is charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (two counts)
  • Operation While Impaired by Drug
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Breach of Probation Order 

22 year old Arshdeep Dhillon, a male with no fixed address, is charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (two counts)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

Police say both suspects may be involved in additional criminal offences from regions across the GTA.

Both men appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Saturday, August 22.
