Christmas has come early for two very lucky Brampton sisters who are celebrating a substantial lotto win.

OLG recently announced that Kristina and Veronica Valdes of Brampton won $500,000 in the October 2, 2017 Daily Keno (evening) draw.

“It was actually my sister, Veronica, that introduced me to Daily Keno,” Kristina told OLG while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “It was my first time playing, and boy did it pay off!”

Kristina, an accountant, first checked their ticket on the OLG Lottery App.

“It said ‘Big Winner’ but didn’t display a prize amount so we headed to the store to have our ticket validated,” she told OLG. “When we first saw the prize amount of $500,000, it was almost too much for us to process!”

The sisters plan to help family with their winnings.

“Our parents have provided and helped us all our lives, so we plan on sharing this win with them. We would like to pay off their mortgage so they can enjoy a more carefree life,” said Kristina. “Then, I would like to travel to Europe – it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go and now I can, and I feel so grateful.”

Veronica, a mother of two, also has plans for her share of the winnings.

“I would love to treat my family to a trip somewhere tropical – perhaps Barbados or the Bahamas. I will also be investing in my children’s future and purchasing a new car for our family.”

Daily Keno players pick their strategy (from a 2 Pick to a 10 Pick) and pick their bet ($1, $2, $5 or $10) to pick their prize.

The winning ticket was purchased at Hasty Market on Queen Street in Brampton.
