Have you ever been asked what you would do if you ever found yourself trapped on an island?

Unfortunately, for some Canadian travellers, that scenario has become a stressful reality after the airport in Cayo Largo, Cuba unexpectedly announced its closure.

The Canadian embassy in Cuba confirmed the closure of the airport and has advised travellers to reach out to their tour companies to discuss their options.

“Travel to/from the island has been disrupted. Canadians should contact their tour agency for transport by sea to the mainland,” the embassy said in a tweet.

The airport is expected to remain closed until February 26, 2020, according to the embassy.
