Warrant issued in Brampton homicide investigation

Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have issued a warrant for First Degree Murder in the investigation of a deceased person that was located in the city of Brampton.

At 5:49 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2020, Peel Regional Police responded to a naturalized green space in the area of Nexus Avenue and Fogal Road in Brampton for a report that a deceased person had been located.

Officers attended and confirmed that a person was deceased and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police determined that the death was suspicious and the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau took carriage of the investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Heeral Patel, a 28 year-old woman from Toronto.

On January 16, 2019, a warrant was issued for First Degree Murder, for the arrest of Rakeshbhai Patel, a 36 year-old man from Toronto.

Police say he had been identified as the suspect in this incident.

Investigators are encouraging him to contact a lawyer and arrange to turn himself in.    

Patel is believed to be travelling in a silver 2009 Honda Civic 4 door with Ontario licence plate CDMP042.
